Matt Collett was born and raised in Covington, Kentucky. In 2006, Matt graduated from Valparaiso University in Valparaiso, Indiana, receiving a Bachelor’s degree in History.
Upon graduating from Valparaiso University, Matt moved to Jacksonville to pursue a law degree at Florida Coastal School of Law. Matt excelled as a law student, where he received the Dean’s Scholar and Dean’s List award for multiple semesters, as well as Book Awards and Best Brief and Memorandum of Law Awards for his skills in legal writing and research. In 2009, Matt graduated from Florida Coastal School of Law in the top 11% of his class, with a Certificate in Advanced Legal Research and Writing. Matt successfully passed the Florida Bar and is awaiting his certification from the Florida Bar.
Throughout law school Matt honed his legal skills while clerking at several law firms in Florida. In 2008, Matt began clerking at Schutt, Schmidt & Noey, where he worked closely with lawyers, paralegals, and other staff in litigating civil cases.
In 2011, he joined the Jax Mediation Center as a Facility Coordinator, and became a part of the Residential Mortgage Foreclosure Mediation Program.
